Conference On Church Websites
For Churches of The Santa Barbara Presbytery


WHAT? A half-day conference to discuss tools and techniques used in developing and maintaining our church websites

WHEREFirst Presbyterian Church of Santa Barbara

WHEN? Saturday, October 11, 9am-12:30pm

WHY?

- To share, compare, and learn from each other;
- To hone existing skills and learn new ones (iron sharpens iron);
- To discover ways to better use this tool to communicate with our congregations and to reach out to seekers;
- And to connect with other brothers and sisters in Christ involved in this area of ministry for continuing communication and support

WHO'S INVITED? Anyone involved in creating, maintaining or posting information on their church's website - and anyone interested in learning more about how that's done: Webmasters, Technologists, Elders, Office Staff, Pastors, etc.

WHAT TO BRING:
*Notebook or laptop with favorite software (wireless is available)
TO BRING: *Information (logon info) for your registry and hosting services (if you would like to make any inquiries or changes)
*Flash drive, memory stick or blank CDs
*Recording device (camcorder, pc corder, audio recorder) if you'd like to record anything
*Digital camera - if you have a favorite one you like to use and need help optimizing images for the web
*Presentation materials if presenting to the group (see below)
*Questions!

Call for Presentations: If you'd like to share about your Church website - your successes and your challenges - please email us so we can include you on the agenda. Items to include in your presentation: what tools you use, what works, what doesn't, etc. Presenters are encouraged to use PowerPoint, presentation media or their website as presentation material.

Call for Questions: Is there a subject you'd like to know more about? Would you like to know which tools to use, or how to use the tools you have more effectively? Do you have questions about domain registration, site hosting, email, designing with templates, ftp, subdomains, image optimization, multimedia, search optimization, local searching, traffic metering, localization, or other topics? Email your questions. We'll them them and address the topics of interest to you.

Healthy Congregations

WHAT? A Workshop at the First Presbyterian Church in San Luis Obispo

WHY? To help participants develop skills to address issues such as:

- Do you avoid people with whom you disagree?
- Are you feeling at a loss in the face of conflict with friends or church family members?
- Are you overwhelmed by disagreements around you?

WHEN? Richard Blackburn, Exec. Director of the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center, will lead this event on Friday evening, Oct. 3rd and Saturday, October 4th, 2008.

HOW? Ask for Registration Forms from your church office or the church office at First Presbyterian, SLO; mail them in by September 1st. Learn how to calmly articulate what you think and value, and to act on that basis, while staying in positive relationship with those who disagree.

Trinity Presbyterian Church in Camarillo,CA is seeking an individual, filled with the Holy Spirit, who has a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They will lead the congregations' ministries to students and young adults within an active, growing church that reaches out to current and potential members and the community. The successful candidate for the position must "show a passion" for youth and their families and be able to lovingly challenge individuals and groups in their faith. We are seeking an individual who is flexible in areas of preference and logistics and firm in matters of morality and principle. The successful candidate must work as a team leader and a team member and must have excellent communication skills with all in the church family. This is a full-time, exempt position. Position: Director of Audio Visual Ministries at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church
